Meet the Leadership Team

Dejena Howell, RN is currently the Director of Clinical Services at Sparrow Hospice.

Dejena is a Registered Nurse and has been in nursing for over 12 years. She received her bachelor’s degree in Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington. Dejena has worked in Urgent Care, Home health, and Hospice, as well as in the hospital system in Medical Surgical/Telemetry, Progressive Care, Emergency Medicine, and Critical Observation. She is a FEMA Certified Nurse. Dejena chose hospice because of her love for people and her desire to make their last experience their best experience. Dejena understands the importance of keeping families informed and understands the importance of an attentive hospice team can make a painful time in someone’s life manageable. Dejena chose Sparrow Hospice because Sparrow granted her an opportunity to work with some amazing team members who understand that hospice is a holistic approach to the death process which incorporates physical, emotional, social, and spiritual support for patients and their families.

In her free time, Dejena loves to travel and experience life. She enjoys spending quality time with her husband and three children, attending her daughter’s volleyball games and water sports.
